People often ask me how they can recover e-mail that has been sent or received on a free web based server. These free email services are great but they do not allow you access to their data storage so as to root around and look for messages you have accidentally deleted. While technically it is possible to find the stored data containing any file opened on your computer in the temp Internet area of the hard drive, finding one miniscule message in the midst of hundreds of thousands of other files is virtually impossible.
The solution is to use an e-mail client such as Microsoft Outlook to send and receive as well as store all of your emails. Then, if you should need to recover deleted mails you will only have to access to the file system under which they were stored. To recover deleted emails archived using Microsoft Outlook you will need what is known as a PST repair program.
